In 2024, the scale of China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports is expected to exceed 2.5 trillion yuan, an increase of approximately twice compared to 2019, achieving an average annual compound growth rate of 18.92%, which is higher than the average annual compound growth rate of 6.2% of China's GDP during the same period. The trend of cross-border e-commerce for all is quietly emerging.

On August 2nd, the day after the establishment of the Cross-border E-commerce Industry Association of Longgang District, Shenzhen (hereinafter referred to as "Longgang Cross-border Association"), President Deng Zhiqiang led the core sellers of Longgang Cross-border Association to visit the Shenzhen Furniture Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as "Shenzhen Furniture Association") for learning and exchange, and to discuss matters related to cross-border e-commerce cooperation in China's home furnishing industry. Hou Kepeng, the chairperson of the Shenzhen Family Association, and Hong Xiaohui, the secretary-general, attended the meeting.

From Longgang to Shenzhen to the Whole Country

Building the No. 1 Cross-Border E-Commerce Platform

In 2013, the "Six Policies for Foreign Trade" were introduced, marking the first year of China's cross-border e-commerce. In 2022, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into effect, and the number of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones reached 165. In 2023, the "Four Little Dragons Going Global" - Temu, SHEIN, TikTok Shop, and AliExpress - All have entered the "full management" model... Over the past decade of cross-border e-commerce, China's cross-border e-commerce has embarked on a new journey towards globalization.

Data from Juniper Research, a global research institution, shows that the global cross-border e-commerce market size will increase from 1.6 trillion US dollars in 2023 to 3.3 trillion US dollars in 2028.

In the first quarter of 2024, the cross-border e-commerce import and export volume of Guangdong Province exceeded 200 billion yuan. Among them, the cross-border e-commerce import and export volume of Shenzhen exceeded 110 billion yuan, with a growth rate of over 95%. Meanwhile, Longgang District's figures in terms of the total cross-border e-commerce import and export volume, the number of enterprises, the construction of overseas warehouses, and the number of employees in Shenzhen reached 44.9%, 30%, 44.4%, and 20% respectively. Longgang District is not only the core area of cross-border e-commerce in Shenzhen, but also holds a pivotal position in the development of cross-border e-commerce across the country.

The establishment of the Longgang Cross-border E-commerce Association will bring together cross-border e-commerce resources in Longgang District and even the entire city, play the role of a bridge and link between the government and enterprises, and with distinctive services such as "excellence and specialization", "offering advice and suggestions", and "providing support to individual households", continuously explore and innovate successful experiences and development models in cross-border e-commerce, and build the first cross-border e-commerce platform in China.

From Low-Price Involution to Original Design

New Opportunities in Home Furnishing Cross-Border E-Commerce


During the communication, both President Deng Zhiqiang and the seller group were very optimistic about cross-border e-commerce in the home furnishing sector. Firstly, among mainstream consumer goods such as houses, cars, and home furnishings, home furnishings are relatively easy to circulate overseas. Second, cross-border e-commerce is transforming from the low-price competition of small items to the high-premium competition of large items, especially the home furnishing category is developing rapidly. Thirdly, the advancement of technologies such as global cross-border e-commerce platforms and cross-border logistics has made cross-border e-commerce for large home furnishings increasingly mature.

Therefore, Long Kuaixie was the first to visit the Shenzhen Family Association. Chairman Hou Kepeng shared that Shenzhen is a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Industry organizations and enterprises growing up in Shenzhen must do creative things. The successful experience of Shenzhen Home Furnishing Association in industrial planning, industrial education, strategic design, quality inspection, standard certification, exhibitions and other aspects can provide reference for Long Cross-border Association. President Deng Zhiqiang strongly agrees with this and hopes to conduct in-depth cooperation with the Shenzhen Home Furnishing Association in the field of cross-border e-commerce for home furnishings.


The establishment of the Longgang Cross-border E-commerce Association is an important milestone in the development of the cross-border e-commerce industry in Longgang District, which will inject new impetus into promoting the standardization, professionalization and internationalization of the industry.

The cross-border cooperation between the Dragon Cross-border Association and the Shenzhen Home Furnishing Association, two core organizations in the cross-border e-commerce and home furnishing industry, is also an important milestone in the development of China's home furnishing cross-border e-commerce. It will build a bridge of cooperation between outstanding home furnishing enterprises across the country and cross-border e-commerce sellers, and give wings to the take-off of China's home furnishing cross-border e-commerce.
