Hong Kong is a scorching land. In the 1960s and 1970s, its economy took off and business opportunities were boundless. Opportunities belonged to those with extraordinary courage and down-to-earth spirit.

In May 1976, Zhang Honglin, who was only 22 years old, rented a tin shed in Dongshan Village, Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong, and started a small factory making rosewood furniture, naming it "Hong Kong Meilian Furniture Company". The vicissitudes of The Times are tumultuous, and only those with ideals can keep up with their pace. The newly established "Meilian Furniture" quickly established a foothold in Hong Kong with its outstanding quality and stable supply chain, and the rosewood furniture it produces is selling well in Southeast Asia. China implemented the reform and opening-up policy in the late 1970s. In May 1980, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was announced to be established. In 1982, the growing "Meilian Furniture" seized the opportunity to move its production base from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland. The factory was located beside a farm tool manufacturing factory in Guanlan, Shenzhen, and was named "Shenzhen Yimeilian Furniture Industrial Co., LTD."

An unchanging mission builds a golden nest to attract phoenixes

Meilian Furniture is the first rosewood furniture manufacturing enterprise to enter Guanlan and the third foreign-funded enterprise. "Meilian" has developed rapidly in Guanlan, attracting other rosewood furniture manufacturing enterprises and supporting producers to enter Guanlan one after another. Today, Guanlan has become the most concentrated production base of rosewood furniture in China, with a 3-kilometer rosewood furniture art street. Meilian Furniture has made significant contributions to promoting the rosewood furniture industry in Guanlan.

The steps forward seek the artistic labels of The Times

"Jiangshan Duojiao" is the first large-scale rosewood art furniture work created by the Meilian Design team. From the very beginning of its design, Meilian Furniture has been creating for eight years with a vision that transcends The Times and the spirit of a cultural carrier. In 2002, "The Land is So Beautiful" was officially launched. This work has successively won numerous honors such as the Guinness World Records, the Special Prize of the 5th China Beijing Furniture Fair, and the Special Gold Award of the 3rd Cultural Expo. The work "How Beautiful the Land Is" has been exhibited many times in various places and has received the highest respect wherever it goes. Central leaders, experts, scholars, artists and entrepreneurs who have visited this work all describe it as "shocking". After watching "The Land Is So Beautiful", Mr. Misir Pareni, the chairman of the Inter Milan Exhibition Center in Italy, couldn't help exclaiming, "This is not furniture; this is Chinese culture!"

"Fortune Fills the Universe" is another classic masterpiece launched by Meilian Furniture on the path of artistic furniture. Nowadays, Hainan rosewood is scarce and its resources are on the verge of depletion. Its price is comparable to that of gold of the same weight. Even so, there is a high price but no market. "Fortune Fills the Universe" is a work completed by Meilian Furniture using over 50 tons of top-quality old Hainan rosewood that has been stored since the 1980s and involving more than a hundred artisans of various types. It took two years to complete. In 2009, at the 5th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Expo, it won the highest honor of this year - the Special Gold Award of the Cultural Creativity Award.

Three major style series products for future outlook

According to the design style of Meilian Furniture, it can be further divided into four product types:

The first is the classic of Meilian - antique furniture in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as large-scale rosewood art carving furniture, which are used for art appreciation and collection.

Red never fades, but art is always invaluable. For many years, the design team of Meilian has been constantly researching the characteristics of furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasties by consulting relevant literary records and conducting on-site investigations and studies of cultural relics and furniture in major museums. They have produced a series of classical furniture styles by imitating the manufacturing techniques and proportions of that time.
